After a straight week of temperatures that refused to get out of the 30s and bundling up in sweaters and sweatshirts, Monday brought warmer weather. I was eager to wear a favorite Kelly green 3/4 sleeve top I got for Christmas but haven’t been able to wear much because it’s a little unseasonable for winter in my frigid office.
Unfortunately, I’ve got the ability of a two year old to drink from a cup, and most of a mug of coffee wound up on the shirt I’d been dying to wear.
(Memo to me: start drinking out of sippy cups to preserve clothes. Travel mugs will do nicely, and no one will know that I’m drinking from them because I’m clumsy. They will just think I’m on the go. That is, if they don’t know me.)
Luckily Monday was laundry day, so I threw the coffee-stained green top in the wash and tried again today. It’s a very soft cotton with an empire waist, so I felt very comfortable while I was writing, and this time, despite playing Russian roulette and drinking my coffee out of a regular, lidless mug, I didn’t spill anything on the top.
No — I just somehow managed to draw a line down the front with a pen.
Frantically I googled “ballpoint ink stains in clothing” and found that the application of hairspray to ink is a tried and true method. I did this, spritzed on a bit of Spray N Wash for good measure, and abused the envirmonment by putting just the green top in the washer, and then the dryer. Two hours later, I’m wearing my soft, comfy, freshly-laundered Kelly green 3/4 sleeve top sans ink.
I was just thinking a cup of decaf might be a nice mid-afternoon pick-me-up. Dare I?

Well, either the sippy cup or a bib.
