No! Really?!

Channel 8 News reported today that a study has showed that live Christmas trees increase mold and allergens in the home.

Why did they need a study to show this? Doesn’t the fact that people tend to start sneezing around live trees prove that they increase mold and allergens in the home?  Does the fact that artificial trees are not a new trend show that people have already been aware of it for quite some time?

Yes, but no one gave you $10k or so to set up mold sensors in a “controlled environment”. Don’t think of it as a useless experiment to prove what we already knew: think of it as an efficient way of circulating money through the national economy. I just hope the study was funded by some private corporation, and not my tax dollars.

That reminds me. I heard about a study that suggests that people who protect their children from germs and dirt and mold and allergens are actually setting them up for worse allergies and illnesses. It’s good for babies when they get their faces licked by the family dog - they build up their immunities right from the start. And that live Christmas tree, with all it’s mold and allergens, is actually good for you.

I’m probably setting up my future children for grave illness by not ever being a dog owner. Hopefully Dorrie’s germs will suffice. ;)
