Two-thirds of my second draft are complete. 224 pages. Just to give you an idea of what that means, my entire first draft was 230 pages. And I have roughly a third, give or take, to re-write. So I’m going to estimate that the whole second draft will be between 350-400 pages. Sounds like a good length to me. Long, but not too long.
Now that I’ve finished the Guinevere section a few days ahead of schedule, and so much of the Linette section won’t require a whole lot of total rewriting, I feel more confident about meeting my March deadline. I still haven’t decided if that means beginning of March or end of March. I’ll know that for sure by the end of February.
Whatever that floating deadline might be, I’m taking tomorrow off. Because I pulled a double shift today and, erm, shirked the responsibility of buying groceries. I’m not sure if I have enough milk for my morning bowl of Honey Nut Cheerios. But who cares when you’re two-thirds of the way through the second draft of a novel?
And only having been writing for a year!
